President Muizzu prefers to govern in isolation, and that is the root of the current problem: Mauroof
Kendu constituency MP Mauroof Zakir has accused President Dr. Muizzu of governing with an authoritarian approach and disregarding external counsel. The Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, Mauroof Zakir, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu prefers to govern in isolation, asserting that this is the root of the current issues.
Mauroof made these remarks while speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Suruhee" program.
He stated that President Muizzu is unwilling to listen to the views or advice of others. Mauroof further noted that the President seems incapable of acknowledging the independent authority of various state institutions or delegating the powers vested in them. Mauroof also alleged that the ministries are being managed autocratically, governed solely by the President's personal whims at any given moment.
"The changes brought to the cabinet were merely an attempt to show that the people's voices are being heard. But who requested these changes, and whose interests do they truly serve?" Mauroof questioned.
Mauroof further stated that President Muizzu intends to completely eliminate political competition and dissent. He noted that this is why the government is attempting to suppress the public by enacting laws that criminalize and penalize freedom of expression.
Mauroof further stated that the MDP Parliamentary Group has undertaken extensive efforts to hold the government accountable for its unlawful actions. He noted that the large-scale rally held last year provided the public with significant hope that this administration could be defeated. Furthermore, Mauroof highlighted that leading up to the recent council elections, numerous efforts were being made both within and outside of Parliament to ensure government accountability.
Mauroof further stated that the public is consistently demonstrating through the ballot box that they no longer stand with this government.
