MDP Chairperson Election: Complaints invited for updated voters' list
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has opened the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the updated voters' list for its upcoming chairperson election until the 27th of this month. In preparation for the election scheduled for June 12, 2026, the party has established a compliance committee to oversee the process and issued a call for polling station officials. The election will see a contest between former President Mohamed Nasheed and Member of Parliament Meekail Ahmed Naseem.

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that the window is now open to submit complaints regarding the voters' list, following adjustments made in response to initial grievances and the re-registration process.
The party stated that the window for submitting complaints will remain open until 2:00 PM this Wednesday, the 27th. However, it clarified that no new complaints will be accepted during this period, as the opportunity is strictly for addressing previously submitted issues.
An announcement has been issued to recruit officials for the upcoming election. The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) stated that members interested in volunteering as officials at the polling stations in Male' for the Chairperson election, scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026, are invited to assist the Elections Committee. Interested members are requested to submit their applications via the provided Google Form link before 2:00 PM on May 30, 2026.
These members must not be actively involved in any campaign activities. The Elections Committee further stated that it will be responsible for assigning the designated work centers for all applicants.
The Elections Committee has officially formed and announced the Compliance Committee for the party's Chairperson election, scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026. The committee was established in accordance with Article 46(a) of the Election Regulations.
The candidates contesting for this position are former President Mohamed Nasheed and the Member of Parliament for the South Galolhu constituency, Mickail Ahmed Naseem.
