Projects are stalled across the Maldives due to the government's incompetence and lack of expertise: Falah
Former Member of Parliament Mohamed Falah has criticized the government, attributing the suspension of development projects across the Maldives to state incompetence. He alleged that despite India granting a quota for construction materials, the government's failure to import these resources and its inability to settle outstanding payments to contractors constitute gross negligence and a deception of the public. Consequently, Falah called for the President's resignation to prevent further hardship for the citizens.

Former Member of Parliament for the West Maafannu constituency, Mohamed Falah, has stated that the complete standstill of development projects across the country is due to the incompetence of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Falah stated that there are currently no development projects underway in the Maldives. He noted that while the government claims police stations are being constructed across various regions, these projects have seen no progress. Additionally, Falah highlighted that other initiatives, such as harbor construction projects, have also come to a standstill.
Falah stated that the country currently lacks the essential materials required for development projects. Highlighting the shortage of rock boulders, he noted that the President had previously pledged to import large-shipments of the material in bulk. Pointing out that India is the primary supplier of rock boulders to the Maldives, Falah remarked that despite the current administration’s disparaging treatment and rhetoric toward its neighbor, India has granted a trade quota to the Maldives that exceeds any provided to other nations.
Despite all these efforts, he noted that the government continues to claim a shortage of boulders. He stated that this situation clearly demonstrates the administration's incompetence.
Therefore, despite being provided with such resources, the current administration’s failure to deliver is, in my view, a clear sign of incompetence. They simply do not know how to govern. If they possessed the necessary expertise, we would see the procurement of essential construction materials and the steady progress of national projects. Harbors would be under construction, roads across the islands would be paved, and building projects would be moving forward.Mohamed Falah, the former Member of Parliament for the West Maafannu constituency.
Falah stated that beyond its incompetence, the current administration is characterized by deceit and a systematic effort to mislead the public. He noted that while projects are officially awarded to contractors, the government fails to issue the necessary payments. He further alleged that this conduct is a form of fraud, asserting that the lack of funding is the primary reason why development projects have come to a standstill.
Falah stated that the nation is currently suffering due to a lack of capable individuals to drive development and progress, noting that all ongoing projects have come to a standstill. He remarked that the hardships currently faced by the citizens are a direct result of incompetent individuals attempting to provide public services. Furthermore, he asserted that if President Muizzu truly wishes for the well-being of the people, he should resign from office and return home.
Falah highlighted that the current administration offers no benefits to the Maldivian people, asserting that its presence would only lead to further detriment. He noted that while the government may increase the membership of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) and boost the party's state funding through job distribution and salary payments, no actual development projects or initiatives beneficial to the public would materialize.
