The young child who was placed on ventilator support following a serious accident in Hulhumalé Phase II on Thursday night has passed away.
The victim in this incident has been identified as nine-year-old Zeeva Sinan Ahmed, a native of Malé.
Zeeva was initially taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment. However, due to the deterioration of her condition, she was transferred to IGMH for further medical care and has since been placed on a ventilator.
The accident occurred near Vinares Tower 7 on Hithigas Magu in Hulhumalé Phase II.
According to the police, the accident occurred when a motorcycle traveling along Hithigas Magu struck a pedestrian. The victim was walking on the roadside, attempting to enter a car parked near Vinares Tower 7, when the collision took place.
