Employee transferred to another island under influence of MP Nazim dismissed without relocation arrangements
Mohamed Sodiq, the Station Manager of Fenaka Corporation’s Dhiggaru branch, has alleged that his dismissal was politically motivated due to differing views. Sodiq claims that following several suspensions under various pretexts, he was transferred to a remote island away from his family before ultimately being terminated through the influence of MP Ahmed Nazim. He further asserted that these actions were a strategic move to secure support for the ruling PNC candidates in the upcoming local council elections.

The Station Manager of Fenaka Corporation’s Dhiggaru branch, Mohamed Sodiq, has been dismissed from his post after being transferred to another island without travel arrangements being facilitated. The move is allegedly part of an effort by MP Ahmed Nazim to exert influence and secure seats for People’s National Congress (PNC) candidates in the upcoming local council elections.
Regarding his dismissal, Sodiq stated that he was terminated due to political differences. He noted that he has been a member of the MDP since its inception and was suspended shortly after the local council election campaign began. He explained that his suspension occurred around last August without any clear justification. Initially suspended for 30 days, he maintained that no specific reason was provided at the time. It was only 25 days into his suspension that he was informed he was being accused of damaging a pipe, Sodiq said.
Sodiq further stated that statements were recorded from him following his suspension. He noted that he had cooperated fully by providing the requested statements; however, his suspension was repeatedly extended, keeping him sidelined for a total of 74 days.
According to the company's regulations, a suspension cannot exceed 60 days. However, they kept me under suspension for 74 days. I pointed out that the extension of the suspension was in violation of the company's established policies. Despite this, after 74 days, I returned to work and was verbally informed that the matter had been resolved. When I inquired about how the case was concluded and requested formal clarification, I was simply told that the matter was over and would not proceed any further. I was told to just move forward with my work.Mohamed Sodiq
Sodiq stated that although he was initially informed that the matter had been concluded, he was notified about a week later that he was no longer permitted to oversee or engage in any operational tasks. He noted that when he inquired whether he was still required to report to the office, he was told he must attend only to sign in. According to Sodiq, when he asked if his duties ended with the signing of the attendance register, his superiors informed him that his responsibilities were complete, provided there was no further work assigned.
Out of nowhere, around January 22nd, I received a formal notice stating that I had been transferred to the Gaafu Alif Kondey branch. I was instructed to report for duty there by January 25th. I responded to that letter in writing, explaining that my current living situation and family circumstances made it extremely difficult to work away from home, and that I was formally objecting to the transfer at this time. Twelve days later, I received another letter stating that the decision could not be overturned. I was ordered to report for work on February 4th, with a warning that disciplinary action would be taken against me if I failed to do so. The document specified that the company would arrange and cover all costs for travel, accommodation, and meals. However, up until the moment I was served my termination notice, the company had not made any travel arrangements nor provided me with any updates regarding these logistics.Mohamed Sodhiq
Sodiq stated that this is a politically motivated move. He further alleged that it is an attempt to secure votes for PNC candidates in the upcoming council elections.
He stated that the action was being carried out by Fenaka under the influence, advice, and guidance of the constituency's Member of Parliament, Ahmed Nazim.
