With elections approaching, water and sewerage project initiated by Solih administration in B. Kudarikilu resumes, commencement dates for similar projects in Dhonfanu and Kihaadhoo remain uncertain
MP Mauroof stated that although the Kudarikilu project was re-awarded to MWSC at an inflated price just ahead of the elections, residents of Donfanu and Kihaadhoo remain in distress as the commencement dates for their respective projects remain unknown. He further noted that this serves as evidence of the government's negligence toward development projects and the blatant waste of taxpayers' money.

Mauroof Zakir, the Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, has stated that while the water and sewerage project initiated by the previous administration in B. Kudarikilu has resumed ahead of the local council elections, there is still no confirmed timeline for when similar projects will proceed in Dhonfanu and Kihaadhoo.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, MP Mauroof stated that the residents of Kudarikilu, Dhonfanu, and Kihaadhoo are in desperate need of water and sewerage projects, noting that the communities are currently enduring significant hardships. He further highlighted that while the residents of Kudarikilu had previously taken the initiative to install their own water and sewerage systems, the prolonged lack of access to these essential services now is something the public finds unacceptable.
Member of Parliament Mauroof noted that during the previous administration, the water and sewerage projects in these three islands were initially awarded to Fenaka Corporation, which subsequently subcontracted the work to a private firm. However, he stated that the projects have come to a standstill following the change in government. MP Mauroof further highlighted that the pipes and other equipment utilized during the initial phase of the project have since deteriorated and sustained damage.
However, MP Mauroof stated that with the Local Council Elections approaching, the project was reclaimed from Fenaka and awarded to MWSC at a higher cost. He noted that MWSC subsequently subcontracted the work back to the same company initially contracted by Fenaka, and the Kudarikilu water and sewerage project is currently proceeding under this arrangement. MP Mauroof further noted that the commencement dates for the water and sewerage projects in Kihaadhoo and Dhonfanu remain unknown. He added that he had received information indicating that Fenaka is hiring additional staff specifically to begin these works.
Are you familiar with the three islands of Kudarikilu, Kihaadhoo, and Dhonfanu? As I recall, these projects were initially contracted to Fenaka, which then subcontracted the work to a company called SAS-e. The work proceeded at a rapid pace until the conclusion of the Parliamentary Elections. Once the elections were over, the projects came to a standstill. Now, another election is approaching. When I summoned the Minister to the Parliament, he stated on the floor that Fenaka lacked the financial capacity to establish water and sewerage services. Consequently, the projects were taken away from Fenaka. They were then awarded to MWSC at a significantly higher price than Fenaka’s original contract. Two years later, with another election looming, MWSC has subcontracted the work back to the very same company that was previously handling it under Fenaka—only this time, at an even higher cost.Mauroof Zakir, Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency.
Furthermore, MP Mauroof expressed concern over the lack of progress regarding other development projects planned for these three islands.
MP Mauroof stated that the current administration is wasting taxpayers' money while halting essential development projects. He emphasized that a leader is not elected to govern solely according to their own whims, asserting that the public should not allow such actions to continue.
