Materials intended for L. Isdhoo Waste Management Center construction being used to build a PNC campaign hub on private property
Allegations have surfaced regarding the misuse of state resources and personnel to construct a People's National Congress (PNC) political hub in L. Isdhoo. Concerns are mounting among the public over claims that Fenaka Corporation provided electricity to the site in violation of established policies, while further accusations suggest that Member of Parliament Ismail Shafeeu is spearheading the unauthorized use of government buildings for political purposes.

It has been revealed that materials brought by WAMCO for the construction of the L. Isdhoo Waste Management Center are being used to build and roof a large hall on a private property in the island. The construction is reportedly being carried out around the clock by employees of state-owned enterprises.
According to a Facebook post by the constituency's Member of Parliament, this office is being established by the PNC as a campaign hub for the 2026 local council elections.
The local council has been operating a waste management center on the island since 2018. Construction blocks required for the facility's upgrade have already been transported to the island. Additionally, the necessary gravel and sand for the project have also been delivered. However, the physical work has yet to commence, and the materials remain idle at the site.
A reliable source has informed RaajjeMV that the materials were transported from the site to a private residence using a vehicle belonging to the Road Development Corporation (RDC). The news outlet has further learned that the incident took place late at night, approximately two to three days ago.

Local residents informed RaajjeMV that government employees are being utilized for the construction of this campaign hub. Reports indicate that staff from the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) and the Road Development Corporation (RDC) are actively involved in the masonry work at the site. This publication has also learned that bricks originally brought in for the construction of the Fenaka office are being diverted for this project. Sources further noted that these materials were transported under the direct instructions of the Member of Parliament, without the prior knowledge or authorization of either the local council or WAMCO.
"This work is being carried out at a house called 'Banafsa'. They are doing this by utilizing state property and resources," he stated.
A local resident informed RaajjeMV that the electricity connection to the premises was established in violation of Fenaka Corporation’s official policies. According to the source, the connection was made directly from the main distribution box without the installation of an electricity meter.
"The electricity was connected directly from the main box. It was wired through the distribution board," a source informed Raajje TV.
Expressing their dissatisfaction with the situation, members of the public have been sharing their concerns on social media. Another resident from the island stated that there are also public concerns regarding the use of the L. Maabaidhoo Youth Center for political activities, allegedly spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for the Isdhoo constituency, Ismail Shafeeu.
