President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has launched a "door-to-door" campaign to support candidates from the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) contesting for Male' constituencies in the upcoming local council elections.
President Muizzu, in his capacity as the leader of the PNC, conducted door-to-door visits in some households of the Maafannu West constituency on Thursday afternoon. The President was accompanied by several cabinet ministers, members of the PNC leadership, candidates contesting for Male' constituencies on the party ticket, and sitting members of Parliament representing the PNC.
Moosa Ali Jaleel, who contested the Male' City mayoral election on the party's ticket, also joined President Muizzu in his door-to-door campaign efforts. During the most recent parliamentary elections, President Muizzu similarly visited households to campaign and garner support for the candidates representing the then-PPM coalition.
Ibrahim Falah, the People’s National Congress (PNC) campaign manager for the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections scheduled for April 4, has stated that the party expects to secure at least 800 seats.
Furthermore, some opposition figures have noted a growing number of people rejecting the current administration. They continue to assert that this election will serve as the turning point where the government is defeated.
Notably, government support across the administrative atolls is on the decline. This trend is largely attributed to the suspension of various development projects initiated by the administration in those islands.
