Foreign ministry has said that arrangements have been made for the repatriation of Maldivian students stranded in Belarus.
The 26 students were unable to travel to Minsk, Russia for a flight scheduled on Saturday.
The ministry noted that the matter was resolved following discussions with the Belarus government, as well as Belavia Airline, Qatar Airways and the Maldivian embassy in Germany.
The 26 students are to travel back in five groups; three students have already started travel and will transit in Istanbul and Doha, while a group of six students are to travel the same route on Tuesday. Six students will return after transiting in Milan and Doha, while five more will travel through Amsterdam and Doha. The remaining students will travel through Frankfurt.
The foreign ministry urged all travelers to confirm flight routes prior to departure, given that some countries have yet to lift the various travel restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They have also been urged to obtain all required documents prior to travel, including travel insurance.
All returnees are required to register in the “Haalu Belun” application, and will have to home quarantine for a 14-day period.
