The harbor breakwater reconstruction project in Maradhoo island of Seenu atoll, has reached 92 percent progress.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the work under the scope of the project is nearing completion and currently, revetment works for the project are underway.

The revetment works are at 65 percent progress, said MTCC.

During the past month, MTCC also completed paving an area of 1,975 square meters needed for the project.

Under the scope of the harbor breakwater reconstruction project in Maradhoo district of Addu City, MTCC is tasked with removing the existing breakwater made of rock boulders.

Further, it is also contracted to dredge 18,873 cubic meters, construct a revetment measuring 340 meters, a bridge as well as a quay wall measuring 419 meters.

Tasked to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on June 30, 2019, the harbor breakwater reconstruction project was mobilized on November 3 the same year.

The project has an estimated value of MVR 25.5 million.
