The Yameen administration has so far built harbors in 47 islands, with a total cost of MVR 1.6b, says Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Sharing the data in a Twitter post on Sunday, he said it showed President Abdulla Yameen’s interest in establishing harbors across Maldives.

According to the data, the government has planned the construction of harbors in 78 islands with a combined cost of MVR 2.5 billion in its first term. While 47 harbors have been completed, 31 are being built at a cost of MVR 900m.
The data also shows that nine harbors were built in 2014, nine in 2015, 12 in 2016, and 17 in 2017.
