Health sector had progressed by 100 percent: Health Minister
Number of dialysis beds increased from 18 to 45

Health Minister Abdullah Nazim has stated that the health sector of the country had progressed by over 100 percent in the past three years.

He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to open the dialysis center in Vilimale’ Hospital on Sunday.

Minister Nazim said at the start of this administration, there were only 18 beds that could provide dialysis treatments, which now had been increased to 45 beds.

“Today we added two beds. It might seem like a minor addition. But in the past three and half years, we had managed to increase this from 18 beds to 27 beds. This is an increment of 150 percent,” he said.

The Minister added that whether if it was expenditure on health sector or if it was service provision, the health sector had progressed by over a 100 percent.

Nazim added that President Yameen’s policy of providing all inclusive health service to the nation had proved successful.

Noting that 60 people had kidney transplants since unlimited Aasandha was introduced, Minister Nazim said this was a sign that kidney related complications was increasing in the society.
