Man arrested for carjacking, remanded

According to authorities, preliminary investigations indicate that he was driving under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident.

A man arrested in Fuvahmulah City for causing an accident while driving under the influence has been remanded in custody for 15 days.
The individual arrested in connection with this case has been identified as Ahmed Aunullah, 35, of Andhaazu, Miskiymagu, Fuvahmulah. According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that he was driving under the influence at the time of the incident. Police further stated that the vehicle had been forcibly taken from its owner following an assault. The suspect had also reportedly threatened to destroy the car.
When he was brought before the court for a custody ruling on the matter, he was remanded in custody for 15 days.
In a message to the media, the police stated that they received a report of an accident in Fuvahmulah around 6:22 p.m. on August 29. According to the report, a car driving in front of the "Moodige" area collided with a motorcycle and fled the scene without stopping, subsequently crashing into another car and a palm tree further down the road.
The woman operating the motorcycle and an eight-year-old girl riding as a passenger sustained various injuries in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at Fuvahmulah Hospital. Police stated that, according to the hospital, neither individual sustained serious injuries.
The police are currently conducting a further investigation into the matter.
