The Kudahuvadhoo Island Council has expressed concern over the lack of progress on the new hospital project, noting that no physical work has commenced at the site since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu laid the foundation stone.
According to information shared by the Kudahuvadhoo Council with RaajjeTV, this project was inaugurated by President Muizzu during his visit to the island in February last year. On that occasion, President Muizzu pledged that the construction of the hospital would be completed within 18 months.
However, as the deadline set by the President approaches, the site remains nothing more than a vacant plot of land. According to the Kudahuvadhoo Council, the only activity observed over the past year and a half has been the re-erection of the perimeter fence, which has collapsed twice during that period.
This project was initially contracted to the Road Development Corporation (RDC). Although it was announced as a 50-bed hospital development, the Council noted that residents are deeply concerned as no physical work has commenced and the project remains stalled.
The council stated that public concern is mounting over the lack of progress on this project. With the deadline set by President Muizzu fast approaching, the council is urging the government to take immediate action to move the project forward.
