Somalia's new Ambassador presents credentials to the President
The new Ambassador of Somalia to the Maldives, Dr Abdullahi Mohammed Odowa, presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during a formal ceremony held at the President's Office today. Following the presentation, the two leaders engaged in extensive discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing maritime security and stability within the Indian Ocean region.

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Republic of Maldives, Dr Abdullahi Mohammed Odowa, has presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The ceremony took place on Wednesday morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador arrived at the ceremony with full state honors, escorted by a ceremonial military procession from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). The procession featured traditional drumming and trumpets, with the Ambassador walking under the ceremonial royal umbrella.
Upon the presentation of credentials by the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the President extended his congratulations and welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives.
Following the ceremony, the President met with the new Ambassador to discuss further strengthening bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest. The two leaders also exchanged views on maintaining security and stability in the Indian Ocean and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the long-standing ties between the two nations.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Somalia were established on March 10, 1988.
