Fiji’s new Ambassador presents credentials to the President

The newly appointed Ambassador of Fiji to the Republic of Maldives, Jagnnath Sami, presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday. The ceremony took place at the President's Office.
The Ambassador arrived at the ceremony in a formal procession, escorted by a military guard of honor from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). The arrival was marked by traditional ceremonial honors, including the royal umbrella and a performance by the military brass and drum band.
Upon the presentation of credentials by the new Ambassador of Fiji, the President extended his congratulations and welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives.
During the meeting that followed, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between the Maldives and Fiji. The President and the Ambassador discussed enhancing cooperation in key areas, including tourism, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development. Furthermore, both parties expressed their interest in working together for mutual benefit and increasing collaboration within regional and international arenas.
The Maldives and Fiji officially established diplomatic relations on March 15, 1988.
