The non-resident Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of Maldives, Francisco Manuel Comprés Hernández, presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday. The ceremony took place on Wednesday morning at the President's Office.
The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Dominican Republic was escorted to the ceremony with full state honors. The Ambassador proceeded to the venue accompanied by a ceremonial procession from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), featuring a military band and a guard of honor, while being shaded by the traditional ceremonial umbrella, in accordance with official protocol.
The President has formally welcomed the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Maldives after accepting his Letter of Credence.
Following the credential presentation ceremony, the President and the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic engaged in discussions regarding potential areas for bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, both parties explored opportunities in environmental conservation and the blue economy, noting that as Small Island Developing States (SIDS), both nations share common priorities on key global issues. Furthermore, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and advancing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Dominican Republic were established on March 17, 2010.
