The High Commissioner of Namibia to the Maldives, Alex L. Tukuhupwele, presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday morning. The ceremony took place at the President's Office.
The High Commissioner of Namibia to the Republic of Maldives arrived at the ceremony with full state honors. The High Commissioner was escorted in a formal procession under the traditional ceremonial umbrella, accompanied by the drum and trumpet corps of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The President has formally welcomed the newly appointed High Commissioner of Namibia to the Maldives, after accepting his letters of credence.
Following the credentials ceremony, the President and the High Commissioner of Namibia engaged in discussions regarding potential areas for bilateral cooperation. Key topics included strengthening ties in tourism, trade and investment, fisheries, and healthcare development, as well as the exchange of technical expertise between the two nations. Both leaders further reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing and advancing diplomatic relations between their respective countries.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Namibia were established on July 26, 1990.
