Speedboat Accident: Three of five injured remain hospitalized
Three individuals remain hospitalized in the general ward at IGMH following a serious maritime collision near Male' last Thursday night, as police continue their search for the vessel that fled the scene without stopping. While the launch involved sustained significant damage, hospital authorities confirmed that none of the five people injured in the accident suffered life-threatening injuries.

Three of the five individuals injured in a serious collision between a speedboat and another vessel last Thursday remain hospitalized, according to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Police reported that a maritime accident involving a speedboat named "Legion 1" was reported at approximately 9:16 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. Following the collision, the vessel was brought to the Izzudheen Jetty area on Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Malé. The other vessel involved in the collision fled the scene without stopping. Police confirmed that efforts are currently underway to locate the missing craft.
Five people sustained injuries in the accident, including four foreign nationals and one Maldivian man.
An Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) media official told RaajjeMV that five individuals were brought to the hospital on Thursday night following a speedboat accident. The official stated that three of the victims are currently receiving treatment in the ward and have not sustained any life-threatening injuries. The remaining two individuals were discharged after receiving emergency medical care.
Videos and photographs of the incident circulating on social media show that the speedboat, named "LGN 101," sustained extensive damage. One side of the vessel was severely crushed, leaving the interior seating completely destroyed.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working to locate the vessel that fled the scene following the collision. Authorities have also requested anyone with information regarding the vessel involved to contact the Marine Police Investigation unit at 9926094 and share any relevant details.
