Three arrested under a court order in connection with an assault in Addu City
Police have arrested two men, aged 18 and 26, along with a 17-year-old minor, in connection with a violent assault in Hithadhoo, Addu City. The court has remanded all three suspects in custody for 15 days as authorities investigate the case under the Gang Crimes Act. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward acts that threaten public safety, the police reaffirmed their commitment to taking firm legal action against those involved in such criminal activities.

Three individuals have been taken into custody under a court order following an assault in Hithadhoo, Addu City.
Police stated that the assault was reported at approximately 10:00 PM on the night of July 4, 2026. The suspects involved in the case were taken into custody on July 6, 2026.
Authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with this case: Shiyah Mohamed (26) of Atheena, S. Hithadhoo; Mohamed Mahil Ahmed (18) of Boalhakinkirimage, S. Hithadhoo; and a 17-year-old minor. All three suspects were produced before the court to determine their detention status, where they were remanded in custody for 15 days.
The Maldives Police Service is investigating this case under the "Prevention of Gang Crimes and Other Serious Offenses Act."
The police have stated that they will not tolerate any actions that jeopardize public safety and security, and will not hesitate to take legal action against those involved in such crimes.
