Home invasion, assault, and robbery in Hithadhoo: Three arrested as police warn of strict action against such crimes
Police have apprehended three individuals under the Gang Crimes Act following a violent assault involving sharp-edged weapons in S. Hithadhoo. While the victims sustained severe injuries during the incident, local residents have expressed growing concern over the recent surge in robberies and violent crimes within the area.

Three individuals have been arrested under a court order following a violent assault involving sharp-edged weapons at a residence in Hithadhoo, Addu City.
Regarding the incident, police stated that they received reports of a violent altercation in Hithadhoo at approximately 10:00 PM on the night of July 4, 2026. Photographs of the victims from the scene indicate they sustained severe injuries following an assault involving sharp-edged weapons.
The three suspects accused of involvement in the assault were taken into police custody on July 5, 2026. According to the police, the case is currently being investigated under the "Act on Prohibition of Gang-related Crimes and Other Dangerous Offenses."
Local residents informed "RaajjeMV" that groups of people frequently enter the house to carry out violent assaults and robberies. Despite police attending the scene and collecting evidence following such incidents, residents have expressed growing concern as no arrests have been made in connection with these crimes.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, the police have provided assurances that they will not tolerate any actions that jeopardize public safety and security. The institution further stated that they will not hesitate to take the strictest possible legal action against those involved in such serious crimes.
While the police investigation into the matter is currently ongoing, the identities of those arrested have not yet been disclosed.
