140 new officers join the police service
A total of 140 officers have graduated from the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu City after successfully completing the 42nd Police Initial Training Course. The four-month program saw the graduation of 104 male and 36 female officers, with Constable Ibrahim Irfah recognized as the overall best student of the batch. These newly commissioned officers will now be deployed across the Maldives to uphold public safety and security.

The Maldives Police Service has welcomed 140 new officers into its ranks.
The graduation and passing-out parade for the 42nd Police Initial Training Course was held on Thursday night at the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu City.
The ceremony was graced by the Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusaan.
Police stated that 158 officers participated in the training course which commenced on February 15, 2026. Out of these, a total of 140 officers successfully graduated upon completing the four-month program. According to the police, the graduates include 104 male officers and 36 female officers.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to the top-achieving students by Minister Ihusaan, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry.
Constable Ibrahim Irufah has been named the best all-around student of the 42nd Police Initial Training Course, while also receiving the Commissioner’s Excellence Award.
Furthermore, Constable Raakin Ahmed was named the best student in indoor subjects, while Constable Hussain Rifshan Ali earned the distinction of best student in outdoor subjects.
The ceremony also recognized the top-performing students from each squad of the course. Constable Ahmed Zain Amjad was named the best student of Ainella Squad, while Constable Raakin Ahmed received the honor for Beefaan Squad. Constable Ibrahim Irfah was awarded the top student of Haji Squad, and Constable Ahmed Shizaan was recognized as the best student of Ranvikka Squad.
Ainella Squad was named the best overall squad of the course. The shield was presented to the squad by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed.
The Police Recruit Training Course is a specialized program designed to equip new recruits with essential academic and technical skills, while instilling a strong foundation of professional ethics and conduct. The curriculum focuses on fostering respect for human rights, community policing principles, and technical law enforcement skills, alongside comprehensive training in key areas necessary for fulfilling the responsibilities of a modern police service.
The police stated that the officers who completed this course will now begin their duties across the country, working to ensure public safety and security while providing essential services to the community.
