Housing Applications Accepted Without NSPA Card Copy
The Ministry of Housing has streamlined the application process for the "Family Housing" program, allowing parents of persons with disabilities registered with NSPA to apply without requiring additional documentation. In response to public demand, the government has eased eligibility criteria and extended the application deadline to June 15, 2026, as part of a major initiative to allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots.

The Ministry of Housing has announced that parents of persons with disabilities registered with the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) can now apply for housing schemes without the need for additional documentation.
The Ministry of Housing has announced that applicants applying under the special priority category for persons with disabilities on behalf of a disabled individual no longer need to submit supporting documentation if they are already registered as a legal guardian with the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
As part of the government's "Housing for All" policy under the "Family Housing" program, the opportunity for persons with disabilities to submit separate applications for government housing projects will open on April 1, 2026.
The eligibility criteria for housing assistance have been eased for persons with disabilities. According to the guidelines, individuals or their families who are unable to afford living in the Greater Male' Area due to their financial situation, and who must frequently travel to the capital because necessary medical treatment for their disability is unavailable in their home island or atoll, are now eligible to apply if they have sought treatment in the Greater Male' Area within the past year.
Furthermore, under the "Housing for All" initiative, the initial deadline for land plot applications was set for 11:59 p.m. on March 5, 2026. The application window for flats was originally open until 11:59 p.m. on April 18, 2026.
The deadline was subsequently extended until 11:59 p.m. on June 15, 2026.
The Ministry of Housing stated that the deadline for housing applications was extended to accommodate numerous requests and ensure more people have the opportunity to apply. However, the Ministry confirmed that no further extensions will be granted.
Under the "Housing for All" scheme, a decision has been made to allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots, each measuring 1,250 square feet.
