The Ministry of Housing has stated that the commencement dates for housing projects across the Maldives, as well as the specific number of units to be built in Hulhumalé and Giravarufalhu, will be determined at a later stage. While numerous housing projects are planned nationwide under the government's 20-year master plan, official completion dates and move-in timelines have yet to be finalized. Furthermore, the Ministry noted that details regarding the 4,000 flats initiated by the previous administration will be disclosed once the review of pending complaints is complete.

The Housing Ministry added that it will announce a date for the final publication of the list once all complaints have been thoroughly reviewed and addressed.
The Ministry of Housing made these remarks despite 2025 being designated as the year President Muizzu’s administration would prioritize housing projects. However, no physical work has commenced on any housing-related initiatives to date.
