It has emerged that several children with disabilities have yet to receive their disability allowance for the month of May from the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
Public concern is mounting as May’s allowance remains unpaid, despite the funds typically being deposited before the end of each month.
When contacted by RaajjeTV’s "Fashairu" program regarding the matter, the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) stated that the agency has already processed and forwarded the allowances for disbursement. However, the agency acknowledged that there appears to be a delay in the funds reaching recipients. When questioned further as to which specific authority or institution the funds were sent to, the NSPA official stated that a definitive answer could only be provided after consulting with the relevant department.
"There has been a delay. We have submitted the request to the Ministry of Finance, and they have assured us that the funds will be released," he said.
Despite assurances from authorities that disability allowances were disbursed on Monday, several parents have informed RaajjeMV that they had yet to receive the payments as of Monday afternoon.
Members of the public have frequently shared their concerns with this newspaper regarding delays in the disbursement of disability allowances by the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA). These delays in essential welfare payments coincide with significant setbacks in the payment of civil service salaries during the past month.
