Deadline for land and flat applications extended to June 15
The Ministry of Housing has extended the application deadline for land plots and flats to June 15, following public difficulties in obtaining the necessary documentation. This extension accounts for the upcoming Eid holidays and the subsequent government closure, as many citizens are expected to travel during this period. The extension applies to several housing initiatives in the Greater Male' Area, including the "Binveriya" scheme and categories specifically designated for persons with disabilities.

The Ministry of Housing has extended the deadline for land plot and flat applications until June 15th.
According to an announcement by the Ministry, the deadline has been extended until 11:59 PM on June 15, in view of the upcoming Eid-al-Adha holidays. Under the previous arrangement, the deadline for land and flat applications was set to expire at the end of this May.
The Ministry stated that the decision to extend the deadline was made in response to numerous complaints regarding difficulties in submitting applications on time. These challenges were attributed to the Eid-al-Adha holidays, a period when many travel out of town to spend time with family, as well as the closure of government offices, which hindered the process of gathering the necessary documentation.
The extended application period covers the special category for individuals who hold documentation confirming their eligibility for flats under the 'Veshifahi Male' or 'Hiyaa' housing projects but have not yet been handed their units. Additionally, the extension applies to the special category designated for persons with disabilities applying for housing units.
Furthermore, the application deadlines have been extended for specific categories under the "Binveriya" housing scheme, which provides residential land plots to Male' residents. These categories include joint applicants under the Binveriya scheme who now wish to apply for individual plots, as well as individuals previously deemed ineligible due to owning a flat, who are now opting to relinquish their flats to apply for land plots instead.
This extension also applies to the residential land plots allocated to Malé residents under the government's housing program.
The Ministry of Housing has announced that the deadline for all housing schemes open for flats and land plots in the Greater Male' Area has been extended. Applications will now be accepted until 23:59 on Monday, June 15, 2026.
