MDP needs 160,000 votes to win 2028 presidential election; success depends on collective effort: Nasheed

He emphasized that achieving this goal requires rigorous collaboration across all party organs and councils, calling for the MDP to reorganize and reclaim its former momentum and passion. Furthermore, the former president noted that securing such a victory would be challenging without the full engagement and participation of the public.

Former President Mohamed Nasheed, who is contesting for the position of MDP Chairperson, has stated that the party needs to secure 160,000 votes to win the 2028 presidential election, adding that this goal can only be achieved through collective effort.
Speaking at the "Bodu Badhalu" campaign rally held in Kulhudhuffushi City on Monday night, Nasheed stated that the MDP would need to secure 160,000 votes to win the 2028 election, emphasizing that this can only be achieved through collective effort.
Nasheed stated that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) remains the only institution capable of winning the election. He further emphasized the necessity of engaging with all stakeholders to achieve this goal.
We must reach out to every single individual. The Kulhudhuffushi City Council, alongside its Mayor, must undertake extensive efforts in this regard. Similarly, the Mayors of Addu City, Thinadhoo City, Fuvahmulah City, and Male' City must also commit to this rigorous work.
