Aminath Fazla, General Manager of the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), has resigned from the People’s National Congress (PNC) Senate and officially left the party.
Fazla was a key figure who worked extensively to bring the current administration to power. It is understood that following the most recent PNC Senate meeting, she submitted her resignation from the Senate and requested to withdraw her membership from the party.
Although she did not disclose a specific reason for her departure, she announced her resignation from the party via social media. However, reliable sources have confirmed to this outlet that she has not yet been removed from her current position as General Manager of WAMCO.
Fazla was a prominent figure in the activities of the PPM-PNC coalition. She previously played a leading role in the protests and movements organized against the former MDP administration. Her resignation comes at a time of mounting reports regarding internal friction within the PNC concerning the government's leadership and the party's management.
