President declines to comment on Nazim’s removal, says party platform Is appropriate
President Muizzu has declined to comment on the reasons behind the removal of Ahmed Nazim from the post of Deputy Speaker of Parliament. During a press conference held at the President's Office, he stated that since the question was directed at him in his capacity as the President of the PNC, he would only provide an answer from a party podium.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declined to disclose the reasons behind the removal of Ahmed Nazim, the Member of Parliament for the Dhiggaru constituency, from his position as Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis.
During a press conference held at the President's Office on Monday, a journalist from RaajjeTV referenced President Muizzu’s previous assertion that only individuals of high integrity who command his full confidence would hold positions within the government and the party. Building on this, the journalist questioned whether the People's National Congress (PNC) initiated the process to remove the Deputy Speaker of Parliament due to a loss of confidence in MP Nazim. The reporter further inquired about the specific reasons behind the move if such a loss of confidence had indeed occurred.
President Muizzu declined to answer the question.
President Muizzu stated that he would address the question from a party podium or platform. He further noted that he was not currently standing at a PNC platform.

Deputy Speaker Nazim resigned from his post prior to the parliamentary sitting held at 9:00 AM on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The resignation was tendered approximately 30 minutes before the session was scheduled to commence.
