Current administration is operating like a vessel without a rudder, while citizens continue to suffer: Falah

Former Member of Parliament Mohamed Falah has criticized the current administration, stating that a lack of capable leadership has weakened national governance and hindered the Parliament's ability to hold the government accountable. Highlighting that President Dr. Muizzu failed to deliver results during his tenure as Male' City Mayor, Falah asserted that the President is now engaged in unproductive official travels that yield no tangible benefits for the country. He further alleged that despite the government's rhetoric, there is a complete lack of practical progress or meaningful action being taken to address national issues.

Former Member of Parliament for the West Maafannu constituency, Mohamed Falah, has criticized President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration, likening its governance to a vessel adrift without a helm. He stated that the government has failed to deliver for the public, leaving citizens in an increasingly vulnerable state.

Speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fala Surukhee" program, Falah stated that there is no one within the current administration who possesses the competence to govern effectively. He noted that the government has failed to remain accountable to the People's Majlis, adding that members of parliament appear to be constrained and controlled under duress. Falah further remarked that, under the current circumstances, he sees no evidence of parliamentarians being allowed to function in any other manner.

Falah stated that only two members are currently speaking on the parliamentary floor. He noted that this clearly demonstrates the extent to which the current administration has weakened. Furthermore, Falah asserted that the country has come to a standstill, claiming this is due to the incompetence of those currently in power.

The current administration in the Maldives is drifting like a rudderless ship. It is as if we have handed a sword to a madman; they are simply lashing out recklessly, and wherever the blow lands, it lands. We all know that the current President previously served in the Male’ City Council for about two and a half years. Yet, what did he actually achieve for Male’ during that time? Was anything accomplished at all? The MDP government consistently provided the City Council with the necessary budget and resources. Now that we have mayors who actually know how to get things done, we can see the streets of Male’ being developed and the drainage issues being resolved.

Falah stated that while the consequences of entrusting governance to those lacking the necessary expertise are becoming evident today, there is only one thing President Muizzu truly knows how to do.

Fallah stated that over the past two years, he has traveled abroad to various countries at an average rate of two trips per month. However, Fallah noted that these trips yielded no benefit or progress for the Maldives; instead, he argued, they only served to further impoverish the Maldivian people.

Falah stated that while they could hold press briefings every other day, change spokespersons, or even alter their narratives repeatedly, the reality remains that they have failed to deliver results.
