14-year-old electrocuted in Gan taken off ventilator
A young boy was critically injured in an electrocution accident on Tuesday night while assisting with preparations for the upcoming Eid festivities. According to reports, the incident occurred when the child attempted to draw power from a street-side distribution box. Due to the severity of his condition, he was initially placed on a ventilator at Gan Regional Hospital before being medically evacuated to Male' at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday for further specialized treatment.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has announced that the 14-year-old boy who was critically injured after being electrocuted in L. Gan has been taken off ventilator support.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has confirmed that the child was taken off the ventilator at approximately 12:00 PM on Friday.
However, an official from IGMH informed RaajjeMV that the child remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night during preparations for the upcoming Eid festivities. According to reports, the child was electrocuted while attempting to draw power from a roadside distribution box using an extension cable.
Reports indicate that the child sustained extensive burns across a large portion of their body; however, no official source has yet released specific details regarding the extent of the injuries. Due to the critical nature of the child's condition, they were initially treated on a ventilator at Gan Regional Hospital before being medically evacuated to Male’ at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday for further treatment.
Providing details regarding the incident, the police stated that the matter is under further investigation.
