Male' City Council decisions will impact entire nation: Azim
During the swearing-in ceremony for newly elected members of the Male' City Council, Mayor Adam Azim emphasized that as the nation's administrative hub, the council's decisions have a far-reaching impact across the entire country. The Mayor urged councilors to uphold financial responsibility and transparency in public service, while calling for the strengthening and digitalization of municipal services to better serve the people.

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that the decisions made by the Male' City Council will have an impact across the entire Maldives.
Azim made these remarks during the official ceremony held for the swearing-in of the Male' City Councilors and the induction of Women's Development Committee (WDC) members.
Azim stated that today marks a significant milestone for the decentralization system of the Maldives, adding that it was a great honor to address the newly elected councilors.
Furthermore, highlighting that Male' is uniquely distinguished from other islands as the most densely populated city, Azim stated that providing services to the residents of Male' City at an adequate standard is a legal obligation of the councils. He further emphasized that fulfilling this responsibility is not optional.

As the councilors begin their new term, Azim highlighted the significance of the positions they hold.
Azim urged that respect and responsibility be prioritized in decision-making processes. He further stated that the vision for new councilors and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members should focus on strengthening service delivery, ensuring financial accountability, and maintaining transparency in all operations.
Furthermore, Azim urged that internal audit reports be viewed as essential tools rather than being perceived as criticism.
Azim stated that members of the Women's Development Committee (WDC) must also be given the opportunity to participate in the policy-making process.
