President Muizzu must reform his conduct immediately following the election results and cease his practice of micromanagement: Meekail
MP Meekail stated that despite the government's attempts to exert influence and offer bribes during the April elections, the results clearly demonstrated the public's rejection of President Muizzu. Calling for transparency regarding the number of political appointees and an end to administrative micromanagement, he dismissed recent cabinet changes as a deceptive tactic rather than a genuine cost-cutting measure. Furthermore, Meekail urged the administration to reform state governance by halting the creation of redundant positions within state-owned enterprises.

South Galolhu MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem has accused the government of widespread bribery during the three elections held on April 4. He stated that following the election results, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu must immediately reform his conduct and cease his micro-management of state affairs.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "TV Talk" program, MP Meekail alleged that the government exerted significant influence over the Local Council, Women's Development Committee, and referendum elections. He further claimed that bribery was widespread across the entirety of Male' City.
However, MP Meekail stated that the election results clearly demonstrate the public's rejection of President Muizzu. He urged the President to accept this reality and reform his conduct accordingly. Furthermore, he asserted that in the interest of public transparency, President Muizzu must disclose the total number of political appointees within the current administration.
What was not distributed in Male’? Jobs were handed out. They even attempted to bribe the residents of the Sinamale’ flats in the Galolhu South constituency. One hundred thousand Rufiyaa was offered to the account of every flat. Yet, even then, the people did not give them their votes. They were defeated by a landslide. Therefore, President Muizzu needs to understand this. He needs to realize it. He needs to reflect. It is the President that the people are saying "no" to. Not anyone else, not a Minister, not Haidar—the people said "no" to Muizzu. Therefore, Muizzu is the one who needs to reform. Muizzu must stop micromanaging. Muizzu must disclose the total number of political appointees.Meekail Ahmed Naseem, Member of Parliament for the South Galolhu constituency.
Referring to the sudden changes made to President Muizzu's cabinet following the election results, MP Meekail stated that the move was merely a facade. He questioned whether state expenditure would truly be reduced, noting that even if the number of ministries was cut from 18 to 15, the overall impact remains doubtful.
MP Meekail stated that the current administration has hired a significant number of employees at Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) despite a lack of actual work. He further noted that the Road Development Corporation (RDC) has recruited 40 to 50 people in islands where no road construction projects are currently underway. The MP added that if the government truly intended to act in the public interest or had any sincere intentions of reform, they would reduce the workforce and operate with greater transparency.
