No matter how much this administration plays on the defensive, they will never regain the public's trust: Thazmeel
Former MTDC Managing Director Thazmeel Abdul Samad has asserted that recent cabinet reshuffles and reform measures have further eroded public confidence in the government. Citing the results of recent by-elections as evidence of dwindling support, Thazmeel called for President Muizzu’s resignation and accused the administration of dishonesty, noting that the public is now prepared to reject the government at the polls.

Former Managing Director of MTDC, Thazmeel Abdul Samad, has stated that the public's disillusionment with President Muizzu's administration is irreversible.
He stated that no matter how hard the government attempts to play defense, mathematical indicators suggest that regaining public trust is an impossible feat.
Speaking on Raajje TV's "Fala Surukhee" program, Thazmeel stated that the wise ministers within President Muizzu’s administration are currently being forced to step down. He noted that while some have already resigned, those who refused to do so are being dismissed from their posts. He further remarked that the "drama" unfolding today will only result in the public losing further confidence in this government.
When we reflect on the President’s recent actions—the simultaneous resignation of his most senior cabinet ministers, the renaming of ministries, and his pledge to bring structural reforms to the government—it becomes clear that despite the administration's efforts to play a defensive game, the public's current disillusionment is profound. No matter how much they attempt to pivot or defend their position, a review of the facts reveals no clear path for this government to recover or deliver any meaningful change.Thazmeel Abdul Samad, former Managing Director of MTDC
Thazmeel stated that the recent local council elections clearly demonstrated the public's profound disillusionment with the government midway through its term. He noted that the Maldivian people remained patient for two and a half years, only to witness the President repeatedly and brazenly spreading falsehoods, even when questioned by journalists at the President's Office day and night. Furthermore, Thazmeel asserted that the public’s overwhelming rejection of the administration is a direct consequence of President Muizzu’s attempts to use taxpayer money to bolster his party and elevate his own political stature.
He stated that the Maldivian people are highly disciplined and had been waiting patiently for the opportunity to cast their ballots. According to Thazmeel, the election results clearly demonstrate that the public no longer wishes for President Muizzu to remain in office as the country's leader. Consequently, Thazmeel called on the President to step aside quietly and return the governance of the nation to the people.
