The Elections Commission has announced that it is fully prepared for the second round of voting in the Local Council Elections and the Women's Development Committee Elections.
According to the Commission, voting for the second round of the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections will take place on Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Commission has therefore reminded all parties that campaigning was strictly prohibited from 6:00 pm this Friday until 6:00 am on Sunday.
An official from the Commission informed RaajjeMV that the final training sessions for election officials were completed last Thursday. The Commission further stated that ballot papers for the five constituencies contested in the second round have been prepared, and all necessary arrangements for the voting process are now in place.
While previous elections have seen second-round voting held in Hulhumale', registration for the runoff in this election was opened exclusively for Malé and the specific islands where the second round will take place. The constituencies proceeding to a second round of voting include the seat reserved for women on the B. Dhonfanu Council, the Fuvahmulah City Council seat for the Dadimagu constituency, the presidency of the Ha. Kelaa Committee, and the committee elections for Hd. Neykurendhoo and L. Maavah.
A total of 14 ballot boxes are scheduled to be stationed for the second round of this election. The distribution of these ballot boxes includes two boxes each in Kelaa, Maavah, and the Dadimagu ward of Fuvahmulah, while one ballot box will be placed in each of the islands of Neykurendhoo and Donfanu.
A total of 6,093 individuals have registered to vote in these elections.
