Current situation is such that every sunset leaves the rule of law facing numerous questions: Solih
Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih highlighted that the previous MDP administration invested 8 billion Rufiyaa in the development of Addu City, asserting that true progress can only be achieved through a decentralized system with active public participation. Accusing the current administration of undermining the powers of state institutions, Solih stated that citizens must address the growing concerns regarding the rule of law through their vote in the upcoming elections.

Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that under the current circumstances, every day ends with numerous questions being raised regarding the rule of law.
Solih made these remarks while speaking at the ceremony held to launch the "Afiringe Addu" manifesto. During his speech, he expressed deep concern over the extent of government influence being exerted on independent institutions and agencies under the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. Solih further alleged that the government is distributing numerous jobs as bribes ahead of the upcoming elections. He emphasized that the vote in this election must serve as a clear rejection of such practices.
Solih highlighted that the progress and achievements in Addu City were realized by aligning with the vision and aspirations of its people, noting that true development can only be brought to an island or city by working in harmony with the residents' perspectives. He further noted that during the previous MDP administration, 8 billion Rufiyaa was invested in the development of Addu City.
Former President Solih stated that while the MDP believes the Maldives can only be developed and advanced through a decentralized system that delegates power, the current PNC administration does not share this vision. He further questioned what actions the present government has taken to empower the citizens or facilitate national progress.
"With every sunrise, we witness the systematic erosion of another institution's authority. Every sunset leaves the rule of law facing a multitude of questions. This is why we must provide a definitive answer on April 4," Solih said.
Solih has stated that the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections scheduled for April 4 are of immense significance, describing them as a crucial step toward reclaiming the "good governance" established through collective effort. The former President further noted that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is the architect and guardian of the decentralization system. He emphasized that this remains the primary reason for voters to support the MDP in the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, Solih stated that if the people desire a resilient Addu, they should elect the MDP. He expressed his full support for the Addu manifesto, describing it as a comprehensive and achievable plan.
