Fitr Zakat distributed to those registered on the registry of the poor and needy, at a rate of 6,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa per person
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced the completion of this year's Zakat al-Fitr distribution, totaling over 14 million Rufiyaa, with each individual on the national registry receiving 6,000 Rufiyaa. According to the Ministry, this year marks a historic milestone for the Maldives, recording both the highest total collection of Zakat funds and the largest per-capita distribution to date.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced the completion of the Fitr Zakat distribution for the year 1447 AH, with 6,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa allocated per person registered on the national registry of the poor and needy.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced on Thursday that the Maldives Zakat House has completed the distribution of Fitr Zakat for the year 1447 AH. All individuals registered on the national registry of the poor and needy have received their payments, with the distribution calculated at MVR 6,000 per person.
This marks the highest per capita distribution of Fitr Zakat ever recorded in the Maldives under an equitable distribution model. According to the Ministry, the recipients included 62 orphaned children registered under the category of those eligible for Zakat.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that over 14 million Rufiyaa has been collected as Fitr Zakat so far this year, marking the highest amount ever recorded. Out of the total collection, 13,896,000 Rufiyaa has been allocated for distribution to those registered as poor and needy.
This year, Fitr Zakat was collected through seven online platforms to ensure a seamless and convenient digital payment process. Additionally, the Zakat House introduced a dedicated online portal for island councils to deposit cash payments collected from individuals who faced difficulties paying online. In the Male' area, Zakat was also accepted via cash and card at the Islamic Centre hall. Furthermore, the collection and distribution of Zakat in the form of food grains were also carried out.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs stated that the implementation of a digital system has enabled real-time monitoring of Zakat collection. The Ministry further noted that this transition has facilitated the equitable distribution of funds to all individuals registered on the national registry of the poor and needy across the Maldives.
