More than 5 million Rufiyaa collected as Fitr Zakat by the 15th of Ramadan
More than MVR 5.4 million was collected as Fitr Zakat during the first 15 days of Ramadan 1445, marking an increase compared to the same period last year. While various online platforms have been facilitated for payments, authorities confirmed that Zakat can be settled via BandeyriPay and FahiPay until the final day of the holy month.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that more than 5 million Rufiyaa has been collected as Fitr Zakat as of the 15th day of Ramadan.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced on Sunday that a total of MVR 5,482,171.00 (five million, four hundred and eighty-two thousand, one hundred and seventy-one) was collected as Zakat al-Fitr by the 15th day of Ramadan 1445.
During the same period last year (1445 AH), a total of MVR 4,460,199 (four million four hundred sixty thousand one hundred ninety-nine) was collected as Fitr Zakat.
Arrangements have been made for Zakat payments to be processed through the Ministry's service counters, local councils, and online platforms.
The seven platforms available for online Fitr Zakat payments are:
- Dhiraagu Mobile App and Dhiraagu Pay
- Ooredoo m-Faisaa Mobile App
- Maldives Islamic Bank Mobile App
- Bank of Maldives Mobile App
- FahiPay Mobile App
- Avas Mobile App
- Bandeyri Pay Website
Among these options, Fitr Zakat can be paid via BandeyriPay and FahiPay until the final day of Ramadan. The Ministry stated that payments through other platforms will be accepted until 06:00 AM on the 27th day of Ramadan.
Furthermore, the Ministry's counters will accept Zakat payments from March 10 to March 19. Services will be available daily, excluding Fridays and Saturdays, from 11:00 to 14:00.
The payment of Zakat al-Fitr is a mandatory religious obligation. Consequently, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has urged all individuals to ensure their contributions are made.
