The acceptance of Zakat payments via cash and card has commenced, specifically catering to individuals who are unfamiliar with online payment methods.
The Maldives Zakat House announced on Sunday that it has begun accepting Zakat payments through counters established at the Islamic Centre's seminar hall in Malé.
Zakat payments will be accepted from February 22 to March 9, between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on all working days. Furthermore, from March 10 to March 19, collections will be made daily, excluding Fridays and Saturdays, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Furthermore, the Zakat House stated that individuals in the islands who are unfamiliar with online payment methods can pay Fitr Zakat by visiting their respective local council offices. Councils will utilize a specialized Fitr Portal to process Zakat payments made in both cash and grain.
When individuals visit council offices or the Islamic Centre to pay Zakat in cash, authorized staff will record the transaction on the portal immediately. The Zakat House stated that upon completion of the payment, a confirmation SMS will be sent instantly, verifying the amount paid as Fitr Zakat. Additionally, if any further amount was contributed as Sadaqah (charity), that figure will also be included in the message.
