Al-Abrar's license suspended following cancellation of Umrah trip for 110 pilgrims
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has temporarily suspended the license of Al-Abrar Group after the company canceled Umrah trips for 110 pilgrims without a valid reason, in violation of established regulations. The Ministry stated that the matter is under further investigation and that appropriate legal action will be taken against the group. Efforts are currently underway to assist the stranded pilgrims, with the Ministry confirming that 28 individuals have already been facilitated to perform Umrah through the Maldives Hajj Corporation.

The license of Al-Abrar Hajj and Umrah Group has been temporarily suspended following the last-minute cancellation of travel arrangements for 110 pilgrims who had already paid for their trips.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs stated that it received complaints regarding the cancellation of a Ramadan Umrah pilgrimage scheduled by the company from March 3 to March 26, 2026, just as final preparations were being made for departure to Saudi Arabia. According to information gathered so far, the Ministry noted that the trip was canceled without any valid reason, in violation of the established regulations for conducting Umrah pilgrimages from the Maldives.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced the temporary suspension of Al-Abrar Hajj and Umrah Group's license to transport pilgrims from the Maldives for Umrah, noting that the company has been formally notified of the decision. The Ministry further stated that it is currently reviewing the matter and gathering necessary information, adding that formal disciplinary action will be taken against the company in accordance with established regulations upon completion of the investigation.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs stated that they are currently assessing potential avenues to assist Umrah pilgrims who have been unable to depart due to this issue and are working to facilitate the necessary arrangements for them.
In this regard, the Maldives Hajj Corporation has facilitated travel arrangements for 28 individuals who were unable to depart for Umrah as initially scheduled under the care of Al-Abrar Group.
