President Muizzu has failed to bring any original vision to the development of Male', and is instead attempting to take credit for projects initiated by others: Azim
Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has criticized President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, alleging that he failed to resolve the capital's long-standing issues during his previous tenures as Mayor and Housing Minister. Azim accused the President of failing to provide permanent solutions to critical problems, such as chronic flooding, while instead focusing on taking credit for the work of others.

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim, who is contesting for re-election on the MDP ticket, has stated that no significant progress has been made in Male' through President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's vision. Azim further alleged that the President is attempting to take credit for projects initiated and completed by others.
Azim made these remarks during an interview with RaajjeMV during the MDP’s door-to-door campaign activities.
Azim stated that a president who fears the council receiving credit cannot effectively work by empowering them. He further noted that President Muizzu had failed to resolve Male's issues during his tenure as Mayor. Azim also pointed out that Muizzu had previously served as Housing Minister, yet the residents of Male' gained no significant benefits from his time in that role.
The Mayor stated that while flooding in Malé has been a chronic issue for decades, President Muizzu’s only response has been to visit affected households to assess their situation. Azim noted that these issues are now being actively addressed. Azim further remarked that the residents of Male' are witnessing a transformation of the city today. He also highlighted that the internal administration of Malé City Council has been significantly strengthened.
"He frequently speaks about Male' and addresses the issue of flood mitigation. However, despite serving as the Mayor of Male' for two years and previously as the Housing Minister, no real progress was achieved. Instead, he focused on taking credit for the work we had initiated. This only happens when one fails to deliver results," Azim said.
Azim stated that any ongoing projects under the current administration, such as land reclamation, are only proceeding because they were initiated by the previous government. He noted that no initiatives are being carried out through the current administration's own planning or foresight. Furthermore, Azim criticized President Muizzu’s approach to development, describing his vision for the country's progress as extremely narrow and shortsighted.
