MDP Pickup Rally: "The government has told more lies than the number of days it has been in office"
Senior officials of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have accused the current administration of deceiving the public and failing to fulfill its campaign pledges. The party expressed grave concern over the depletion of state funds despite the suspension of several projects included in the national budget. Furthermore, the MDP warned that attempts to undermine the Constitution by consolidating elections would further deteriorate the country's political and economic situation.

The MDP’s acting chairperson and Member of Parliament, Abdul Ghafoor Moosa, has stated that the number of lies told by the current administration exceeds the total number of days it has been in office.
Ghafoor made these remarks while speaking at a series of pickup rallies organized by the MDP.
Ghafoor stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration has been characterized by deceit and dishonesty since its inception. He noted that none of the government's promises are being fulfilled as pledged. He further raised serious concerns regarding the budget, pointing out that while projects included in the budget remain stalled, the total annual allocation is being exhausted. He added that across all islands in the Maldives, the prevailing situation is one of stagnation, with development activities having come to a complete standstill.
"We must ask ourselves: should we simply remain silent while public funds are being depleted?" Ghafoor said.
Speaking at the gathering, Mohamed Ibrahim, the Member of Parliament for the North Galolhu constituency, stated that the numerous banners currently displayed across Male' by the PNC are filled with nothing but falsehoods. He remarked that it is shameful to present blatant lies to the public while failing to fulfill the promises made to them.
Furthermore, Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem), a member of the MDP National Congress, stated that the government is systematically undermining the authority of the Constitution. He warned that allowing the consolidation of the two elections would lead to a further deterioration of the country's situation.
