History proves that no party other than the MDP understands the needs and aspirations of the people, says Azim
Male' City Mayor Adam Azim stated that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has always been a grassroots organization that prioritizes listening to the people's voices in its decision-making process. Highlighting that landmark policies such as Aasandha and the Free Degree Scheme were developed by identifying public needs, he also emphasized the importance of holding elections separately. Azim concluded by urging public support for MDP’s policies to effectively address housing shortages and other socio-economic challenges facing the citizens.

Male' City Mayor and MDP mayoral candidate Adam Azim has stated that history proves no political party other than the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) truly understands the needs and aspirations of the people.
Speaking during the MDP’s door-to-door campaign activity in the Hulhumalé South constituency on Friday night, Azim stated that the MDP has always been a party that engages directly with the public to understand and address their concerns.
Azim stated that the MDP prefers to maintain the current schedule for elections. He noted that when the "Green Constitution" was drafted, elections were scheduled separately by choice, not due to a lack of understanding of how to hold them concurrently.
It was with the explicit intention of engaging directly with the people that the MDP took the initiative to introduce the current "Green Constitution." This framework was established to ensure that ahead of every election, we go to the citizens, listen to their voices, and address their needs. Through this process, the MDP has gained a deep understanding of the people's aspirations. Our history proves that no other political party truly understands the needs of the public as we do. Based on the MDP’s direct engagement and assessments on the ground, it is clear that there are still citizens who are forced to beg for basic medical care.Male' City Mayor Adam Azim
Azim stated that the Aasandha scheme was originally introduced to provide a solution to these challenges. Furthermore, Azim noted that the party’s door-to-door campaign revealed the struggles of parents unable to afford degree-level education for their children after O-levels, the need for additional financial support for grandparents, and the overall poor state of housing conditions.
Through the MDP’s direct engagement with the public, it has become evident that housing conditions remain significantly poor across both Male’ and the islands. The situation is particularly dire in the capital, where residents are living in extremely cramped and difficult circumstances. Upon identifying these challenges, President Solih’s administration formulated a comprehensive solution—a housing program designed to ensure that every citizen has access to a home. Furthermore, it has been observed that those registered on the Male’ Dhafthar (special registry) are also facing severe hardships. The existing policies, which previously excluded them from being eligible for land and housing in the capital, have been identified as a major issue that needs to be addressed.Male' City Mayor Adam Azim
Azim stated that solutions have now been provided for all these issues, noting that these are achievements the public celebrates with joy.
Azim stated that these achievements were only possible because of the current electoral system. He noted that without such a framework, essential services like healthcare and housing would remain unaddressed. Therefore, he urged all citizens to vote for the MDP’s "scales" symbol to support the party in implementing these policies.
