The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has successfully concluded its door-to-door campaign activities in the South Hulhumale' constituency.
The event, held on Friday night, was attended by Male' City Mayor and MDP mayoral candidate Adam Azim, along with other candidates from the constituency and the party's acting chairperson, Hanimaadhoo MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa.
Speaking to RaajjeTV during the event, Ghafoor stated that many residents of the South Hulhumale' constituency have shared their concerns with him. He noted that the activity demonstrated the constituency's continued support for the MDP. Ghafoor further expressed high confidence in securing a victory, citing the strong public backing observed during the campaign.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Adam Azim stated that the door-to-door campaign has highlighted the numerous concerns shared by the public. Azim noted that these interactions demonstrate why merging elections is not a viable idea. He argued that consolidating elections would reduce the frequency with which representatives visit their constituents to listen to their voices.
Azim stated that this is the reason why the MDP opposes the synchronization of elections. He emphasized that the MDP is a party that remains close to the people and operates by listening to their voices. He further noted that the party has previously resolved numerous challenges faced by the public by actively listening to and understanding their concerns.
The most critical aspect of holding elections is engaging directly with the people. It provides the opportunity to meet with citizens, identify their needs, and work toward addressing their concerns. This is precisely why we are advocating against the consolidation of the two elections.Male' City Mayor Adam Azim
Azim stated that grievances against the government are being voiced by every household, clearly demonstrating the significant extent of public dissatisfaction with the administration.
