12 employees at ADK Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19.
ADK’s managing director, Ahmed Affal, confirmed this on RaajjeTV’s Covid-19 coverage, and said that those that tested positive are “support staff” at the hospital.
He added that all 12 are foreigners that reside at an accommodation block in the capital’s suburban district Hulhumalé.
Affal stressed that the employees that tested positive for the virus do not interact with patients, and assured that they “would not have had contact with any patients at the hospital”.
ADK Hospital has activated an “internal protocol” following this, which includes testing of employees who exhibit symptoms. Further, they will be under isolation until the results come back.
As such, 15 employees that reside at the Hulhumalé accommodation were quarantined after five showed symptoms. Affal said that 12 out of the 15 samples were negative to Covid-19.
The 12 employees that tested positive for the virus have been moved to an isolation facility, while work is underway to transfer the others to a quarantine facility.
