A national movement titled "Maldivian Land for Maldivians" has been launched to oppose the sale of Ras Male'.
Former Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdulla made these remarks during a press conference held regarding the Ras Male' project. Speaking at the briefing, Imran stated that what is being witnessed today is the relinquishing of 500 hectares of land in a manner that allows Zionist influence to seize control over the entire Maldives.
Imran stated that the Maldivian people are no longer willing to accept President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s actions by simply dismissing them as mere politics or commercial investments. He asserted that a significant majority of Maldivians believe the Ras Male' project is a dangerous, premeditated crime designed to strip Maldivians of their sovereignty and hand control over to Zionist interests. Imran further alleged that the project is being carried out solely to serve President Muizzu’s personal interests.
For this reason, over the past month—specifically since the signing on September 21st until today—major local news outlets, influential commentators from across the country, individuals of all ages, and researchers have continuously united to mount a powerful and large-scale protest.Imran Abdulla
Imran stated that the initiative launched today aims to consolidate the individual voices previously raised in opposition to the sale of Ras Male'. He further noted that this is a national movement being conducted under the slogan "Maldivian Land for Maldivians."
At the same time, Imran assured that the movement would continue until the government halts the Ras Male' project.
Furthermore, Imran asserted that not a single grain of sand from Maldivian soil should be yielded to Zionists or any entity that would empower them. He emphasized that the nation's land, seas, and reefs must only be opened to foreign investors following comprehensive public participation, consultation, and input from the citizens. Imran further stated that any natural resources granted to foreign parties must ensure maximum benefit for the Maldivian people. He stressed that such allocations should only be conducted through transparent, accountable, and well-established procedures.
Imran stated that it has become necessary to oppose the Ras Male' project due to President Muizzu’s disregard for established principles. He asserted that, with the support of the Maldivian people and by the will of God, they would succeed in halting the project. Furthermore, Imran highlighted that a significant majority of the public remains opposed to the initiative.
