Two cases related to the Gulfood Expo in Dubai have been identified.
Dr. Ibrahim Afzal revealed this at Tuesday night’s press conference at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
The doctor had on Monday asked those that attended the expo, held from 16-20 February, to report to authorities noting that they have reason to believe that some of the attendees “had come back with Covid-19”.
Noting that they have identified two cases related to the expo in Dubai, Dr. Afzal said that they made the appeal after seeing “slight variations” in their disease history.
He further said that a person’s immune system would have weakened when they recover from a disease, and added that if such a person contracts Covid-19 “their disease history will be longer”.
Hence, Dr. Afzal said that they wanted to check if there are any such patterns.
While they have asked for those that attended the expo to report, he noted that it is not likely that any of the individuals will be taken in to quarantine or even isolation, and emphasized that this is being done “to do a backtracking to find out how many had this infection”.
“It is not because we think you have the disease, we are interested in knowing whether you had any symptoms, how long you had them, and even though you might not currently have the infection, we have reason to believe that some of them did actually come back with Covid-19.”Dr. Ibrahim Afzal, at Monday night's press conference![]()
