TC Sports Club has returned to Malé after over a month in different quarantine facilities due to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The team was brought to the Maldives capital some time on Friday and they members and officials had spent a total of 42 days in quarantine.
TC was quarantined in Sri Lanka on 12 March and completed 14 days in quarantine there.
The team had gone to Bangladesh for its match against the Bashundhara Kings in the AFC Cup earlier this year and it was during their time away that the Covid-19 situation worsened worldwide.
Although their quarantine period ended on 26 March, Sri Lanka had gone into lockdown by then. After a while being stranded in the neighboring country, they were finally evacuated along with a group of other Maldivians stranded in Sri Lanka, via a repatriation flight by the country’s national airline, Maldivian on 5 April.
TC team was quarantined upon return to the Maldives at Furaveri Resort and tested for Covid-19.
The club has since confirmed that none of its members or officials have tested positive to the disease.
Their return comes at a time the Greater Malé Region has been under lockdown since the first case of a community transmission was discovered in the capital on 15 April.
Due to the pandemic, a number of events have been cancelled including all sporting events.
The Football Association of the Maldives (FAM) had earlier decided to cancel the remainder of the football season for 2019 and 2020.
