TC Sports Club, who are to compete in the upcoming Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2017, says that it is “fully prepared” for the tournament.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s Kulhivaru File program on Monday, TC’s head coach, Mohamed “Nizambe” Nizam said that the club’s goal is to “win the gold medal.”
Noting that the team has been training for the tournament, Nizam said that the team has played a number of friendly matches with other clubs, as part of the preparations for the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup.
He noted that TC is “still quite new to the first division,” adding that getting such an opportunity will be beneficial to the club, especially “experience-wise.”
A total of six countries will compete in this year’s Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2017.
While TC was ranked second in 2016, they were given the opportunity to compete as Ooredoo Dhivehi League champions, Maziya and FA Cup winners, Club Valencia were already playing in the AFC Cup.
Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2017 is to begin on March 18, and TC Sports Club is in Group A, along with Bangaldesh's champion team, Dhaka Abahani Limited, champions from Kyrgyzstan, FC Alga Bishkek and South Korea's Chopina Citizen.
The annual tournament, is registered under FIFA and AFC, and was first held in 2015.
