Authorities have revealed that the latter group of Covid-19 cases announced on Monday are contacts of previously confirmed cases.

Dr. Nazla Rafeeq revealed this at the press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Monday night.

While a total of 15 cases were reported on Monday, seven of the cases (Cases 61 to 67) were announced shortly before the end of a press conference held earlier in the day. These are, three Maldivians and four Indian nationals.

As such, Case 61 is a contact of Case 36 while Cases 62, 63 and 64 are contacts of Case 28 and the remaining three are direct contacts to Case 29 which belongs to the Case 27 cluster.

While the 15 cases were announced on Monday, Covid-19 spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz stated that 945 contacts have been identified thus far.

In addition, 164 buildings/apartments have been placed under monitoring in relation to these cases, with 38 of the places placed under monitoring on Monday.
